My name is Shawn Koppenhoefer. I’m a Canadian living in Lausanne, southern Switzerland on the northern edge of ‘Lac Léman’.

Professionally, I am a Mac OS X system-administrator, sometimes web-developer, somedays database-consultant and occasional-researcher. I work at the EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) where I did my PhD, at the UNIL (University of Lausanne), and for private clients providing support, maintenance, and management. In short,  I help people get their Macs, networks, and websites to behave as they expect (especially when other people tell them “it can’t be done”). In the past I’ve built a few simple iOS apps, created a multi-language medical database (20k+ patients), and helped climate-change researchers model rain more accurately. Now-a-days I’m interested in the move to chat bots in the social-media space. To help my clients, I use (but am not limited to) Munki, AutoPackage, DeployStudio, RemoteDesktop, OTRS, and WordPress. For outreach, I manage social-media needs with HootSuite and IFTTT. I’ve spent some time implementing web apps around Google’s Fusion-Tables and Google-Maps api but have started migrating to MapBox and GeoJSON files. I’ve spent some time with VPS’s and custom Linux installs to host multi-site WordPress and multi-domain mailservers but I’ve started migrating all that to AWS.

Your best bet, for learning more, is to Google me; You may discover that I’m an argentine-tango instructor and photographer.
